QGPA Mission

Statement

Queer Grads, Professionals, and Allies (formerly QG&A) is a registered Graduate Student Organization that provides resources, support, events, and activities for graduate students at Virginia Tech; both queer and allied. Founded in the Fall of 2010 with just three members, this organization has grown to over fifty five students and faculty from the Graduate School at Virginia Tech, medical students at the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM), and students at the Veterinary School (VMRCVM).

This organization maintains strong ties with the two other organizations on campus dedicated to LGBTQ awareness and support; the LGBT Caucus for faculty and staff, and the undergraduate organization: HokiePRIDE of Virginia Tech.

For information about support on the Virginia Tech campus, in Blacksburg, and the New River Valley, click on our "Resources" tab.

Some of our current projects include but aren't limited to:

  • Reorganizing the list of campus unisex / gender neutral bathrooms

  • Coordinating a list of “safe” counselors and physicians on campus

  • Ally Campaign (Navigates to the QG&A Legacy Page)

  • Providing the Queer and Allied Graduate community with a speaker series as well as a social outlet.
